![]() Gail Sydenham, Vice-Chairman gail@parchmentcraftguild.co.uk |
Gail is married with four children and eight grandchildren, who are a joy to her. She lives and teaches parchment in Port Talbot for all levels. Her students come from all over Wales and as most of them have to travel long distances, she holds all-day workshops. Gail's husband, Anthony, helps and supports her in her role, driving her all over the country to exhibitions, etc. She also has great support from Linda Williams, who is ever ready to help in any way she can. Her love is designing and teaching parchment craft. She is passionate about the Guild and works hard to promote it at every opportunity. |

Marilyn lives in Surrey and has been parching for seven years. She has been actively promoting the Guild in her area for the last five years. She teaches at the shop where she first came across parchment twenty five years ago. |
![]() Jackie Rainbow, Membership Secretary membership_secretary@parchmentcraftguild.co.uk |
A born and bred Bristolian, Jackie has been married to Nick for twenty-five years and has a daughter Jess, who is now 18. Pre-motherhood, Jackie's career moved from legal secretary and latterly P.A. and she was fortunate enough to have a break for Jess' first five years. She returned to work as a Clerical Assistant then qualified Librarian at a secondary school. Unfortunately even school librarians can face redundancy and she now has a lovely three day week job as an Admin Assistant at a respite unit for disabled and complex needs children. Jackie became hooked on parchment in 2007 when she happened to visit the Bristol Pergamano show, and since then has attended lessons and workshops with some of the very best of modest experts that the craft can offer. Jackie assisted in the organisation of the Bristol event this year and has been invited to help again next year. She is also planning her second visit to the Harrogate Show in May 2012. Jackie finds parchment both relaxing and infuriating in equal measure, but says it is a passion which must be fed and which she enthuses about until she sees eyes beginning to glaze! |
![]() Janice White, Secretary & Newsletter Editor secretary@parchmentcraftguild.co.uk |
Janice jumped in at the deep end on a weekend course in Bournemouth four years ago and has never looked back since! She particularly enjoys using blendable pencils for coloured work and loves snipping away at lace work. She is looking forward to hearing from anyone with interesting articles for the newsletter and photos too. Don’t be shy – put pen to paper |
![]() Janet Snudden, Treasurer treasurer@parchmentcraftguild.co.uk |
Janet was born and bred on the Isle of Wight and has lived and worked there all of her life. She is very happily married to Andy and they have just celebrated their Silver Wedding Anniversary. They live in a cottage near Ryde where they endeavour (and fail most of the time) to keep about one acre of garden under control. Janet qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 and has worked in her current job for 21years. It is a family run company and she enjoys it very much. She has always loved to craft right from a young age. Starting with drawing and painting as a child then progressing to knitting, sewing, embroidery, cross stitch and home decorating – she loves anything fiddly and time consuming if the end result is good! She initially became interested in parchment craft in 2004 after seeing examples in a craft shop and demonstrations on the craft channel on TV. She bought a basic kit and was not very happy with the results. Luckily she discovered that Alison Yeates held regular classes on the IOW, went along, and has been hooked ever since. She also goes to Alison’s annual parchment weekends in Bournemouth and has visited all the exhibitions in Bristol. Janet's family think she is mad spending so much time doing parchment craft and cannot understand her obsession with buying pencils and pens!! However, they always seem impressed with the results when they get their birthday and Christmas cards! |
